About Us

Our
Story
Ishka is inspired by the Gaelic (Scottish + Irish) word for water—uisge or uisce.
Water is both soft and strong, a single droplet and the vast sea. It replenishes, gives life, and over time carves through mountains. Like water, Ishka represents resilience, transformation, and connection—to ourselves, to nature, and to the wisdom of our ancestors.
Rooted in the land of Scotland (Alba), we honour ancient techniques and natural medicines - breath, sound, energy work, community, and plants - as powerful tools for wellbeing.
We are life partners and creative collaborators. Together, we founded Infinite Sky in 2016, a mural painting and community art organisation (you can see our portfolio here.)
We also both worked for may years as Managers for Scrapantics, a Dundee-based social justice enterprise, which gave us invaluable experience in community work and inspired our passion for bringing opportunities - often reserved for the privileged- to those who need them most.
Over the years, we have held many circles and workshops, worked with underserved communities, managed large scale projects, participated in ceremonies and retreats around the world, and learned from diverse cultural practices.
In 2025, we spent time with the indigenous Shipibo tribes in the Peruvian Amazon, connecting deeply with their plants and traditions - wisdom that we now weave into our work with Ishka.
We founded Ishka out of a shared passion for holding spaces where people can experience the transformative wellbeing practices that have changed our lives and continue to support us on our journeys.

Kate
My background is in jewellery design and I have been an artist all my life. I have spent the last 4 years as the Manager of ScrapAntics CIC, a thriving social justice enterprise based in Dundee.
My journey into alternative health began after the sudden loss of my father in 2010. This sparked a deep passion for the transformative impact of breathwork, meditation, sound, and nature based healing.
I am a sacred space holder, and a Transformational Breathwork Facilitator - the only certified practitioner of the Elemental Rhythm approach in the UK.
I completed a 15 day Vipassana meditation retreat in Mexico, 2019 and have experienced and held many art workshops, women’s circles, ceremonies and group activities.
I have taken training in a range of relevant areas including Shipibo plant medicine, Gender Based Violence, Trauma-Informed Facilitation, Spaceholding Essentials, Refugees, Asylum and Resettlement training and Leadership Training.
Passionate about breathwork, plants and the wisdom and healing they offer us, I strive to walk my own healing path with integrity and humility so that I may best serve others.

Ancient Practices made accessible

Sound therapy
is a gentle healing practice that uses vibrations from instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, drums, and the voice to support physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. The soothing sounds guide your body and mind into a state of deep relaxation, helping to release tension and restore balance.
During a session, you’ll lie comfortably and simply listen as the vibrations wash over you. This encourages your body to return to its natural state of harmony, easing stress, calming the nervous system, and allowing your mind to let go of daily pressures.
How You’ll Feel
People often notice profound benefits from sound therapy, including deep relaxation, reduced anxiety, improved sleep, enhanced emotional clarity, and a renewed sense of positivity and peace.

Meditation
is a simple practice that helps you focus your mind, calm your thoughts, and create a sense of inner peace and clarity. It’s not about “emptying your mind” or sitting in silence for hours—it’s about being present and tuning into yourself, whether through your breath, a specific focus, or a guided journey.
Meditation is for everyone. You don’t need prior experience or a special setting to benefit from it. At Ishka, we weave meditation into our sessions as guided journeys, helping you connect deeply with yourself and your wellbeing.
How You’ll Feel
People often notice lasting benefits, including greater calm, focus, and positivity. Meditation can help you manage stress, regulate your emotions, improve sleep, and feel more grounded in your daily life.
Plants
have been used for centuries for their healing properties, offering support for both body and mind. From medicinal herbs to sacred plants, nature has provided us with powerful tools for restoration, healing, and connection.
At Ishka, we offer plant ceremonies that allow you to connect with different plant medicines in a safe, supportive, and accessible way. These ceremonies create space for you to explore the healing potential of plants in a profound way, guided by nature's wisdom, offering healing and insight that supports your overall wellbeing.
Our Plant Ceremonies
Tea Ceremonies:
In our tea ceremonies, you’ll learn about the history, medicinal uses, and healing properties of a specific plant. This intimate and educational experience allows you to connect with the plant on a deeper level, connecting to its unique benefits.
Cacao Ceremonies:
Cacao is a sacred plant medicine known for its heart-opening qualities. In our cacao ceremonies, you’ll be guided through a meditative journey with sound and energy work to explore a specific topic or emotional block, helping to release, renew, and reconnect with your inner wisdom.
How You’ll Feel
After a plant ceremony, you may feel a deep sense of relaxation, clarity, and emotional release. The gentle combination of plant medicine, sound, and meditation can help open your heart, clear any emotional blockages, and leave you feeling revitalised and energised.
